Important feeding and sheltering habitat for shoveller, Grey Duck (Anas superciliosa), Grey Teal (Anas gracilis) and Swamp Hen/Pukeko (Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus). Also used by waders Pied Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) and Oystercatchers (Haematopodidae). 1
